“Those who approach the Sacrament of Penance obtain pardon from God’s mercy for the offense committed against him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion.” CCC 1422.
The Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation | Confession):
The Sacrament of First Reconciliation (Penance | Confession) is celebrated in Term 4. Children in Year 2 or above who have been Baptised or received in the Catholic Faith.
The practice in the Archdiocese of Sydney is that children receive the Sacrament of reconciliation in Year 2 or above. It is the practice of the Church that children be prepared for this Sacrament before receiving their First Eucharist (Holy Communion).
