  Adult Altar Servers
   
 
  • Adult Altar Servers assist the Priest at Mass and other Liturgical Celebrations.
  • When required they will conduct communion services and also take communion to the sick.

  • Each Friday, these people take responsibility to ensure that the sanctuary area of the church is clean, including the removal of flowers, cleaning the votive candle stands, ensuring floral arrangements are fresh, replenishing holy water fonts and the entry areas of the church are clean and tidy.

  Catholic Charismatic Prayer Meeting
   
 
  • We meet to worship the Lord in songs, spontaneous prayer, reading of Scripture and silent time.
  • Usually we also spend time praying with people for healing or a special need.
  • From time to time we also organise special days for understanding and praying for all kinds of physical or inner healing and healing of the family tree.
  • We also run programs for spiritual renewal and growth.

  • Catechists provide religious instruction and offer introduction to the Sacraments at Drummoyne Public School.
  • Classes take place on Friday morning each for 30 minutes.

  • Children’s liturgy is offered to children K - 6 at 9am Mass, during the school term, at the time the homily is given.
  • A short talk or celebration takes place with the children based on the readings/gospel of the day at their level of understanding.

  Il Focolare - Italian Prayer Group
   
 
  • Il Focolare is a biblical Prayer Group, conducted in Italian.
  • Our aim is to gather people with little knowledge of English and anyone who feels more comfortable to pray in their native language.
  • We keep in close contact with the Parish by translating bulletin’s news, On Lion magazine etc.
  • We spend some time in praising God, meditate on the Scriptures and offer petition prayers for our own needs, those of the Parish and of the World.

  Lenten Groups
   
 
  • A five-week programme – based on the Gospels of Lent. Groups consist of 8-10 people coming together to gain a greater appreciation of the Gospel, sharing this with one another and seeing the relevance of this in our every day lives.

  Liturgy Committee
   
 
  • This group, which includes representatives of the various liturgical ministries, meets on the third Wednesday of each month.
  • They work to establish guidelines for the celebration of the (revised) liturgy within the community, including education for the community, so that it may participate “fully, consciously and actively” and s o that the liturgy, especially the Eucharist, truly is “the source and summit of the Christian life.”

  Ministers of the Word
   
 
  • Ministers of the Word are called to proclaim (not just read) the Word of God to God’s people in the liturgical assembly.
  • In the tradition of the prophets and apostles, they ensure that the life inherent in the readings of sacred Scripture, is understood and experienced by the assembly.
  • Ministers are provided with initial and on-going professional and spiritual formation. Rosters are prepared on a quarterly basis.

  Music Ministry
   
 
  • The Liturgy of the Latin Church truly comes to life when celebrated with music, enhancing and bringing full expression to the prayers and Scriptures.
  • The communal nature is more openly shown, the unity of hearts is more openly achieved and the whole celebration more clearly prefigures that heavenly liturgy which is enacted in the heavenly Jerusalem.
  • There are three groups of people with varying talents, voice and instruments, who offer their gifts to the service of the community at the 9.00 am and 6.00 pm masses on Sunday.

  Parents & Friends
   
 
  • A group of parents dedicated to supporting St Mark’s Primary School by organising fetes and other fund-raising activities, such as Trivia Night, Cocktail Party, Art Show etc throughout the year.
  • Meetings dates are found in the Calendar, and are held in the Parish Hall at 7.45 pm.

  Parish Family Groups
   
 
  • Family groups comprise a number of adults and children.
  • All are welcome to join, from grandparents to babies; there is no age barrier.
  • We welcome married couples, non-Catholic spouses, ordained ministers, religious, single people, one parent families, seniors, widowed, divorced and young people.
  • The members of groups gather on several occasions throughout the year to participate in a picnic, barbecue, casserole night, restaurant dinner, etc, to enjoy being with one another and gradually to develop supportive relationships.
  • The groups work together to foster the parish community and support the pastor.
  • Sharing experiences like a weekend away, a home Mass, baptisms and anniversaries are highlights in a ‘Family’ Group calendar.

  • We meet Monday evening (excepting public holidays) at 7.45 pm in the Sacramental Room.
  • We make home visits to those in need in Drummoyne, Leichhardt & Lilyfield, anyone interested in this activity would be most welcome to attend our meetings or contact Gwen Burford for further information.

  Sunshine Club
   
 
  • This social group of senior citizens meets regularly.
  • The ladies bring a plate and a small gift for our game of hoy.
  • Sr Barbara started it about 1987 I think! with an afternoon tea.
  • Rita Baker named our club; Judith Brown calls our hoy games.
  • Judith and Grace Smith use their cars as taxis picking up some of our ladies.
  • Julie Grady is our banker looking after our donations for our Christmas party on the First Thursday in December.
  • I think we fill a need in the Parish, we come together in prayer, friendship, share a meal and enjoy each other’s company.
  • The Sunshine Club meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Drummoyne RSL Club at 12 midday.
